Jib Cranes

Here at Lifting Gear Direct we manufacture our own jib cranes to suit your requirements, our skilled team are able to produce floor mounted, wall mounted or jib cranes mounted on a column, all of which can be supplied with additional lifting gear, for example; electric or manual hoists, air hoists, chain blocks plus beam clamps and powered trolleys

Although our swing jib cranes have a standard slewing angle of 270 degrees, simple stops can be supplied to offer other slewing angles. They are painted inĀ  blue (Trafalgar) (others colours may be available) and are generally for non-aggressive indoor use. If you are using an electric hoist we are also able to supply other electric components such as; knock out boxes and isolators which are fixed to the upright column using a wire festoon

Our over braced jib cranes are available in capacities from 125Kg up to 2000Kg, and with jib arms up to a maximum 8 meters which may be supplied along with a range of hoisting devices, such as chain blocks or electric hoists. Our standard range are rotated manually however they have the option of having a motor fixed to the arm.

Standard over braced jib cranes using mains electric and electric hoist, these systems are perfect for use in machine shops where the hoist needs to be used close to the column.

Our standard over- braced swing jibs have the option of adding a motor jib to the arm allowing the arm to have higher and longer operation

A jib crane incorporating an articulated arm designed for areas where areas where an obstacle stops the free movement of the jibs arm.

Here are some basic guidelines for the safe use of our jib cranes;
  • Always Position the jib arm correctly, making sure the hook is straight above the loads centrepoint of gravity
  • Position the jib correctly, making sure the hook is directly above the loads centre of gravity
  • Never drag loads or pull to the side
  • Inspect the jib crane and all lifting devices used prior to each use, do not use if defective in any way.
  • Lift the load slowly, never shock load.
  • Thetravel paths line of view, must be clear and free from obstructions
  • Never permit anyone to walk under a suspended load
  • You should not place ladders etc. Against an unrestrained jib arm, nor climb on them
  • Stability of the jib crane relies on the strength of its foundations of supports, they should be assessed by a qualified poerson
Guidelines for inspections and maintenance;
  • Maintenance and servicing should be carried out at regular, planned intervals, ideally along with the lifting appliances
  • Lubricate all pivot points and bearings regularly
  • Check all bolts and fixings are tight
  • Ensure the running surface is always clean and clear of debris
  • Inspect the jib on a regular basis, any concerns must be referred to a competent person immediately.
  • Always look for structural defects, distortions or damage, crached welds, missing or loose bolts, or any slewing difficulties
