Builders hoists or scaffold hoists as they are often called, are regularly used in the construction industry, on building sites where buildings are being erected and scaffolding towers are common place. They also make ideal tools for roofers to carry the roof slates / tiles up to the roof quickly and easily.
Builders hoists provide an economical and safe way of lifting and lowering heavy or awkward loads up and down the scaffolding tower, to which ever level they are needed, these hoists also have a variety of attachments to assist in the lifting and lowering of specific items, such as a rubbish chute, wheel barrows and mortar buckets etc.
By using an electric builders hoist to manoeuvre these items much time can be saved as they are quicker than using man power, they are also safer as workers do not need to climb up the scaffold tower whilst carrying equipment, the hoist does it for you. This in turn can save money, as the risk of injury to workers is greatly reduced, reducing the number of sick days and injury claims. About a third of construction site accidents and injuries result from lifting and moving heavy loads, so by using a builders hoist correctly this number can be greatly reduced.
Builders / scaffold hoists can either be clamped onto the scaffolding pole, or a stand alone prop, and some can be hooked over the poles of the scaffold tower.
Builders hoists come in a range of capacities, with varying lengths of wire rope, to suit the height of lift required, and also come in different speeds and power levels.
