YOUR  JIB CRANE:

AT ALL TIMES:-

  • Examine the Jib crane, block and accessories prior to use and ahead of putting into storage.
  • Locate Jib arm so that the lifting device is precisely over the load.
  • Push other than pull the load whilst slewing the Jib arm.
  • Make sure the travel path free of objects/persons prior to slewing the arm.
  • Bear the weight of the load gently.
  • Store and handle Jib cranes in the approved manner.

NEVER:-

  • Try to drag loads across the floor.
  • Rest ladders or climb on unrestrained jib arms.
  • Permit people to pass beneath the load
  • Shock or side load Jib cranes.
  • Selecting THE Correct JIB CRANE:-

Jib cranes are available in a wide range of designs and capacities, so with this in mind decide on the jib to be used and set up the lift taking the following into consideration;

  • Style of jib crane: underbraced, overbraced, floor or wall mounted, capacity, height and length,
  • Floor or foundation jib cranes have higher load ratings than wall mounted ones, a cantilevered crane can incorporate a full or partial rotation.
  • Slew: angle of slew- 360°, 180°, or other push/pull, hand geared or power slewing.
  • Style of block and trolley to be used.
  • The requirement for slewing stops.

COMMISIONING AND INSTALLING:-

Always abide by specific directions issued by your provider because these will differ according to the design used, (We are able to install our jib cranes for you personally)

The overall stability and safety is determined by the foundations or supports. When erecting to an existing structure, it is necessary for the superimposed forces to be assessed by a certified engineer.

Free standing Jib cranes need to be mounted on suitable foundations, and yet again a suitable person needs to be consulted.

Where the Jib crane is mounted to upright structural members actions need to be in use to avoid the clamp fixings from sliding downwards.

STORING AND HANDLING:-

Whilst the Jib crane isn't in use it needs to be positioned so as never to create a hazard to people or goods within the region. It is probably necessary to secure the jib arm to avoid movement the result of winds etc.

If your jib crane is not used frequently it is best to remove the lifting device for individual storage, if this isn't an option then it needs to be parked where it is not going to produce a hazard.
