WHAT IS A BEAM CLAMP
Posted : Thursday 29th September 2011
A beam clamp is a device from which a load is hung; the beam clamp is attached to the flange of a steel beam without altering the beam in any way. Beam clamps
offer a safe and fast semi-permanent lifting point, they are lightweight and easy to install with a secure grip. Beam clamps are ideal for use along with manual chain blocks, lever hoists and pulling machines etc.
Beam clamps are available in a range of capacities and designs, they can be adjustable or of a fixed size, can have scissor action, screw locking or bolt clamp fixings.
Good beam clamps offer: - Robust all steel construction, they are easy to install, the built in suspension bar offers low headroom, making them ideal where headroom is at a premium. Beam clamps are compact and lightweight, they also provide a safe and secure grip due to the central threaded spindle; and super quick adjustment to any girder width within its range.
There are beam clamps available which suit various sizes of beams, and some come supplied with a shackle attached, providing an even more versatile rigging point allowing for the easy attachment of hoisting equipment such as electric hoists, and chain blocks. Most beam clamps have a locking device for additional safety, and there are various models available which have extra reinforced side plates and jaws for use in demanding conditions. Beam clamps are available in varying capacities, and the safe working load should never be exceeded.
