12mm Winch Rope Fittings

These 12mm winch ropes are easy to fit to your winch thanks to our fuse and tapered end. The loading or anchoring end will be finished with a thimble eye to give it a more rigid structure, thus easier to attach to other hardware. The thimble is inserted into the looped back rope and secured with a steel ferrule which is pressed on under immense pressure from our press machines to create a permanent and secure termination.

To this thimble eye you can opt to have a spring latch safety hook fitted. This must be done during the manufacturing process and will create a permanent fitting. This option is popular as the hooks are really easy to fit to other equipment or loads and the safety latch ensures it will stay in place.

Another option to consider is a shackle rather than the hook. A shackle can be removed at will which means you can just use the thimble eye for connecting if the shackle is not needed every time . Shackles are a great way to connect two objects whether slings, hooks or other hardware.

12mm Winch Cable Construction and Strength

The 7x19 rope construction has 7 individual strands each containing 19 wires. 6 strands are twisted around the 7^th strand to create a wire core which provides optimum strength and crush resistance. This is imperative for winch ropes especially when wound on a drum.

1960 N/mm² tensile strength rope is supplied as standard, however 1770 N/mm² can be provided on request. 1960 can handle more force but the 1770 is a softer rope.
