GIS originally started out in Switzerland concentrating on precision mechanics in 1957 rather than the products that we know of today. The Swiss armed forces sourced a few different things from GIS in the early days such as the casing pipes for assault rifles. In 1963 things quickly changed and the company went into developing and launching their first electric chain hoist, from this point a global network emerged and they quickly expanded to cover over 50 countries worldwide; becoming known for their quality and reliability. From 1975, due to factory expansion and a new foundry, their workforce rapidly grew and their range of products were developed and changed to offer customers more options to suit their lifting needs. In late 2005 the GCH range was introduced and in 2014 the GPM model both having innovative designs. Lifting Gear Direct can supply both of these ranges along with the GCH wind, especially for wind turbines. GIS is also ISO certified meaning you can rely on the standard of the hoists and the safety standards which are followed.
