Our catenary wire kits can be provided in a standardised kit form available online or to include your custom choice of fittings on request. Available in galvanized or stainless steel our catenary kits ensure power cables are kept away from moving parts and are a popular addition to mobile gantry cranes and Jib cranes.
We can supply catenary kits to suit your specific requirements, however the most common kits will include a turnbuckle tensioner with a hook at one end and an eye at the other to ensure the catenary wire can be secured and tensioned correctly. Four wire rope grips are used to create a loop/eye at each end of the rope, two grips each each end, be sure to fit the eye end of the tensioner into the loop before securing with the rope grip. Two included hook plates can be fitted to where you need the catenary system.
Once the hooked wall plates are fitted you can attach the wire – hook one eye (you should have already created this with the grips) to the hook plate; pulling the wire taut over to the other hook plate and fit the turnbuckle to the hook. Now you can adjust the tension by turning the outer portion of the turnbuckle tensioner.
Your power cables can now be attached to the catenary wire with your fittings.

We frequently use catenary wires on our Lifting Gantry systems as well as our Jib cranes, this is due to the fact that they use multiple moving devices. Beam trolleys are commonplace and are used to move lifting hoists and loads across the steel beam on a Jib or gantry crane. Sometimes powered trolleys are used as well as powered hoisting devices; these both have cables which will need securing out of harms way. A catenary kit is ideal for these scenarios.
Besides the obvious fact that these kits hold power cables out of the way they also have a number of other benefits. Power cables are supported rather than hanging under their own weight, thus reducing strain on the cable and its connections. This should extend the life of your equipment.
