When we refer to trailer rope or lorry cable we generally refer to the wire ropes that are used for internal mechanisms in large lorries and arctic trailers as well as tailgate trucks.
Our 35x7 non-rotating, compacted wire rope is commonly used in these kinds of applications for raising and lowering tailgates or internal decks, operating door mechanisms, tipper mechanisms and other specialized trailer equipment
Having 35 strands containing 7 wires in each strand this wire rope is ultra flexible and perfect in more complex pulley systems. We use the high strength 2160 wire rope for these trailer ropes.
As well as being a compacted rope it is also non-rotating; the strands are organized in 3 layers with the outer and inner layers being twisted/laid in the same direction (clockwise for example). The middle layer is laid in the opposite direction (counter-clockwise).
This type of opposite laid layers forms what is called a non-rotation or rotation resistant rope.
When loads are applied to standard rope there will be some stretch/lengthening of wires due to the forces implied on them, as well as some twisting, some may spin quite quickly which can be hazardous and detrimental to load safety.
Non-rotating wire rope on the other hand avoid this type of scenario due to the opposite laid wires. This ultra strong rope provides load stability and precision with optimum flexibility and is ideal for lifting and hoisting operations as well as more complex applications
Compacted undergoes a process which flattens the outer strands and reduces any voids within the wire layers, this increases the contact area of all strands. The rope becomes much smoother, easier to handle and most importantly – stronger but with a smaller diameter than a standard rope.
Key benefits to a
compacted rope include;
Starting out at 10mm in diameter and increasing up to a huge 48mm these are some of our largest and strongest ropes. Any length can be provided with any end termination. We make these trailer ropes to order to your precise specifications. Popular terminations include swaged terminals such as studs, toggles, forks and eye terminals; sockets and thimble eyes are also options. Whatever your needs, please give us a call or email us with your requirements, we are always happy to help and provide up to date quotations.
