Designed for the entertainment industry the D8+ is an upgrade of the trusted, classic lodestar industrial chain hoist and meets SQP2 2018 requirements for stage use. Find out more below.
The Lodestar D8+ ET electric hoist comes in three different capacities, 500kg, 100kg and 2000kg. Additionally each size has a choice of two lifting speeds which, depending on the model ranges between 8 MPM to 64MPM (metres per minute).
These hoists are made in the USA in accordance to D8+ ratings and certified to SQP2 and TÜV SÜD.
The 8:1 safety factor with its double brake installed ensures the hoist is safe to use above people without the need for a secondary safety support device (typically a tie off to anchor the load to a safe point). This means a more efficient and cost effective hoist – reducing time, labour and cost for the rigging set up.
Remember, D8+ hoists can not be used for moving loads above people, for this you would need a C1 classified stage hoist.
The key features of the Stage ready D8+ lodestar closely mimic the classic models and include the following features:

These electric chain hoists have a black finish to minimise visual distractions. They are commonly used during venue set up and during performances for lifting and holding loads such as scenery, lighting trusses, PA systems, video wall suspension lighting positioning and more. The hoists can be used anyway up as a standard or climbing hoist; often used in climbing mode where the hoist body is attached directly to the load rather than the an anchor point. This enables much quicker movements.
Should this not suit your needs or would like to compare with other brands and models then please browse our entertainment hoist section where you will find Gis and Chainmaster stage hoists as well as a simple stage winch and chain block. We also have a good stage rigging components section for smaller equipment such as slings and shackles, specifically for stage use.
