Onyx Black Chain Sling Details

All chain and components in these chain slings have a black finish for use in the entertainment industry to minimise visual distractions.

The chain used is grade 80 short link chain with a black lacquered finish. We can make up your chain slings in lengths up to 6 metres as standard but please enquire if you need longer lengths. 8, 10 and 13mm chain diameters are your options here.

Whether you need a single, double, 3 or 4 leg sling the component options include the master link, chain connector, shortening clutch and sling hooks. The shortening clutch and the sling hook have a clevis type fitting so they are fairly simple to fit and/or switch out if required.

All components have a matte black painted finish and can withstand temperatures from -20 to +200 degrees C.

Safety, Certification and Standards

When it comes to safety these chain slings meet a number of performance requirements;

Chain – BS EN 818-2

Sling Hook – BS EN 1677-2

Connector – BS EN 1677-1

Clutch – BS EN 1677-1

Works certificate 2.1 to EN 10204 and an EC declaration of conformity are available.

The chain and components are stamped with a number of product information including the brand/maker (chain = Cobra; Components = ONYX), the material grade, size, ID and traceability code.

Other Chain Slings and Rigging Gear

Lifting Gear Direct can supply standard chain slings in grades 8, 80 and 10 with multiple options available. These are typically self coloured, red or blue so may not be ideal for on stage tasks.
