With up to 10 tonne working load limits the Cobra plus g10 double leg chain sling can handle heavy loads with ease. We can manufacture your sling to suit your needs with a choice of lengths up to 10 metres as standard and many hook options
For a custom chain sling to suit your specific lifting applications there are a number of options to think about – chain size/WLL, length, loading hooks, shortening hooks.
We know all loads are not the same so think it is wise to always order the longest chain you are likely to need and if you will sometimes need shorter chain leg lengths then add the option of shortening hooks to your order. These are permanently attached into the master link and can not be removed. They enable you to hook the chain back in the correct manner to the exact length you need; thus the sling will be suitable for lifting a wide array of loads with no need to buy another sling with shorter legs.
The loading fitting is another important option and your choice will depend on the types of load and your lifting set up. Clevis type hooks are a good option because they can be removed and swapped out for a more appropriate clevis type hook if your loads or set up change, Thus a more cost effective way to configure your sling.
Take a look at the image gallery to see the most commonly purchased hooks, need something different? No problem just give us a call, we can usually make up a chain sling with whatever you need.
Hooks with safety latches are typically the better option for load safety – we have two types; firstly the standard sling hook which has a spring catch that pushes back into the hook to open before springing back to close. If you need a safety hook with a larger opening than the sling hook then consider the self locking type. With a self locking hook a release latch on the back enables the whole hook bowl to be moved outwards, away from the safety latch creating a larger throat opening. Ideal for bigger slings for example.
The swivel hook enables easier load attachment and sling alignment whilst being self locking, however it will be permanently fitted to the chain, unlike clevis fittings.
The open foundry hook is for use when a safety catch is not necessary.
