Our 1960 tensile strength galvanized black wire rope is the ideal rigging cable for use in theatrical settings. Available in a range of cable diameters up to 12mm in any length.
Fully galvanized with a blackened finish these wire ropes are difficult to see when used on stage sets. They do not catch stage lighting like silver coloured ropes do so there will be no flashes or glints of light to distract the audience. They blend very well into the background.
We supply these ropes in 1 metre increments to your chosen length. If you would like the ends terminating with a particular fitting such as a thimble eye, hook or a simple fuse and taper to stop unravelling then we can provide this option on request thanks to having our own rope workshop. Simply get in touch and tell us your requirements.
We use a 7x19 constructed wire rope for these cables as they provide great strength whilst having good flexibility, thus are suitable for a number of theatrical elements, whether for scenery, lighting or other moving objects.
The 7x19 is made up of 7 individual strands; each strand has 19 wires. So, 19 wires are twisted into a strand; 7 of these are twisted together to form the 7x19 rope.
If the 7x19 is not right for your requirements then we can also supply black theatre cable in a 7x7 construction as well as a 19x7 (not the same as the 7x19). The 7x7 is a more rigid rope due to fewer wires. The 19x7 is a rotation resistant rope with a high tensile strength and enough flexibility for pulley and sheave use. Ideal where load stability is crucial.
