About 8mm Winch Rope

This 8mm winch rope comes in the form of a galvanized 7x19 construction. This equates to 7 main strands and within each strand there are 19 further wires. One strand is positioned in the centre as the core with the 6 other strands twisted around it. Having the wire centre provides very good crush resistance.

The 8mm winch cable construction provides just the right amount of flexibility to be wound around a winch drum whilst retaining its strength. Having a high tensile strength with the minimum breaking force factor is K=0.392 you can be assured of a strong winch cable.

1960 galvanized cable is used as standard, however we can supply 1770 – the slightly softer option on request.

8mm Winch Cable End Fittings

It is our standard procedure to supply all winch cable with a fuse and taper at one end of the rope, there are two key reasons for this. Firstly it seals/fuses the wire ends together to prevent the rope from fraying or unravelling. Secondly we taper the end slightly so that fitting to your winch is easier.

The loading end or the winch rope is terminated with a steel thimble eye as standard which provides eye rigidity/stability and also offers rope protection. To this thimble eye we can add in a safety hook for easy and secure load attachment, this is a permanent fitting and can not be removed.

Another option to consider is a shackle fitting, these are easy to fit and remove as needed and provide a secure attachment point.
