Using grade 80 chain and components these 4 leg Cobra chain slings meet the relevant requirements with WLL up to 31.5 tonnes and standard lengths up to 10 metres.
Although not compliance tested these Cobra grade 80 slings do meet the working load limit performance requirements of BS EN 818-2 & BS EN 1677-2. They can be safely used in a wide temperature range from -20 to +200 degrees Celsius. All components are stamped with material grade, ID and tracing code. UK/CA CE declaration of conformity can be provided along with Certification the 2.1 statement of compliance order (EN 10204).
The safest slings incorporate safety hooks which have a safety latch to close off the hook bowl to prevent loads from slipping out. We offer three popular standard safety hooks including 2 Clevis types and 1 permanently fitted eye type hook.
Clevis type hooks have the benefit of not being permanently attached; they can be removed from the chain by removing the load pin which incorporates a locking pin so it remains secure. This essentially means you can replace or switch out your components for a different option as long as it is the Clevis type fitting. If you opt for a permanent eye fitting only the supplier/manufacturer can remove/change them.
In our Clevis range there is a standard sling hook with sprung latch and a self locking hook which has a much larger throat opening. A C hook is also a clevis type option but does not have a safety catch so must only be used where a catch is not needed.
Our permanently fitted components include the eye type swivel self locking hook which also has the larger opening and latch but benefits from the swivelling eye for easier loading and correct slinging set up. The last components you will find in the image gallery are the shortening eye grab hooks. We fit these into the top master link alongside the chain connectors (2 – each with 2 chain legs). These hooks are used when you need a shorter sling length, simply slip each chain leg into a hook equally.
